Every community, village or city has local heroes looking over their families all night long!

Mr. S - "Weekend CNC Warrior" Approved!

We would like to introduce you all to Mr. S.  We may not know his real name but we do know he can make some pretty nice projects with his CNC!  A while back we received an email from him packed with images of some of his completed projects.   We would love to share 3 of them with you.  

Mr. S made this wonderful firefighter plaque using the Local Heroes Firefighter project.  What a great layout he decided to use and the details came out perfect.

"The local heroes plaque was made out of bass wood and finished with clear polyurethane.  All projects were cut on a shopbot cnc machine.  The heroes plaque, approximately 7” tall by 8” wide, required some scroll saw cutting to clean up the pockets where the 1/16” tapered ballnose router bit didn't reach."

 

"I liked your Home for the Holidays Hack so much that I didn't think I could improve on it so I cut it out of very old cherry with a true tung oil finish; it turned out wonderful, it is 14” in diameter."

Love that old wood look and the knot hole!  Good choice to leave that in Mr. S it really adds come character!

And now for something totally different and very cool... wood pendants.

"The Celtic pendants are just under 2” in diameter, cut from bass wood. Rough cutting was done with a 1/8” endmill bit, the finish cut with a new 1/32” tapered ballnose bit; bass wood is very fibrous & stringy and will leave a lot of “fizzies” if the bit isn’t sharp, thus the reason I used a new bit.  One pendant has a clear polyurethane finish, the other I used metallic cooper paint and a reagent to create a patina finish, which is sealed with a special clear top coat."

Theses pendants are something we hoped someone would try, at some point.  We were pleasantly surprised to see them in the batch of photos Mr. S sent us.  Very nice job!
